Underway 10:00 am'ish
Route:
US-395 and CA-36 to Susanville, CA
Eagle Lake Road to Eagle Lake RV Park  Elevation 5139 ft.
255 miles. Arrived Eagle Lake around 5 pm

Lunch in Reno at a Denny's.  I've found that for fast food on the road Denny's is one of the more reliable places for a filling and healthy'ish meal.

Did not sleep well last night.  Feel like I've been on the road a week but it's only a day and a half.
Fuel stop in Reno, NV and topped up tank in Susanville. Wanted a full tank as I'm not sure how long tomorrow's ride will be without services.
Turns out that the park I'm staying at has a gas pump. Probably expensive but might top up again in the morning.

There were a couple of delays on 395 for construction where they were convoying traffic through a single lane.

Gorgeous weather again except for head winds and cross winds pretty much from Reno on.

Gas mileage has been all over the place from barely 40 to over 50.  A lot of this is due to terrain climbing from 1200 feet in Pasadena to over 8000 feet in places.  But some maybe due to fuel mixture on the bike.  Today I leaned out the carburetor a bit and I can tell from exhaust "popping" that it had an effect.  On this bike I want some popping on deceleration.  That disappeared at higher elevation but now has returned with the leaner mixture.  I'm wondering if just the fact that it was running richer than normal due to altitude, accounts for some of the loss in miles per gallon. At last check today it was at 52 mpg but that could also be because a lot of the route was "downhill" to lower altitude. Who knows?

Eagle Rock Road is a treat - narrow, paved, twisting through pine forest with occasional long views down into the valley.

For a commercial campground this place is really quiet which is a pleasant surprise.  Some guy came over and gave me a bottle of an IPA pale ale from Montana.  I'm half way through it and it's more than I want to handle.
Lundy Lake this morning early.  I love aspen forests.
I had to stop for construction so snapped this picture.  It shows the general landscape but is nowhere near as spectacular as what can be found nearby.
North of Mono Lake.
